recently announced the promotion of Joshua Whitley to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective January 1, 2025. Whitley’s promotion comes following the retirement of Rick Neal, a 27-year veteran of McCoy’s and makes Whitley only the third CFO in the company’s nearly 100-year history.
“I look forward to maintaining the financial strength of the company by continuing to provide timely and accurate financial information so our leaders can make sound business decisions. I have a lot of tenure working with McCoy’s Accounting team, and I am excited to support the Credit team in my new role as well,” said Whitley. “I am humbled to follow in the footsteps of Rick Neal. He is a tremendous mentor, friend, teacher, and coach.”
Whitley, a graduate of Texas State University, has over 24 years of experience at McCoy’s Building Supply. His first role with the company, while still in college, was to manually reconcile bills in the Accounts Payable Department. Over the years, Whitley was instrumental in the addition of many procedural efficiencies, eventually serving as the company’s Controller before being promoted to Vice President of Accounting in 2018.
“I am thrilled that Joshua has accepted the role as CFO of McCoy’s. He is smart, professional, respectful, hard-working, and an outstanding addition to our close-knit Senior Team,” said Meagan McCoy Jones, President and CEO. “Joshua and I have, in many ways, grown up at McCoy’s together, and I am grateful for his ongoing counsel and leadership.”
Retiring CFO Rick Neal was hired in 1997 and was part of the original McCoy’s Executive Team that was formed that year. Later, he was promoted to SVP and CFO.
“Rick Neal has been one of the most influential and impactful leaders in the history of McCoy’s. When he envisions a project, it is as good as done. And he always dreams big,” said Brian McCoy, Chairman. “His financial guidance during our leanest years set us up for the success we enjoy today. Thank you, Rick, for your 27 years, and your unwavering loyalty to our family and the people of McCoy’s.”
Jones adds, “As with everything at McCoy’s, our work of service to our customers and communities is a team effort, and I’m grateful for Rick, Joshua, and the entire McCoy’s team, who allow us to continue to earn the trust of our customers.”
