Westlake Ace expands in the Kansas City area

announced it has signed an agreement to open a new store in Grain Valley, MO. Additionally, the hardware retailer鈥檚 recently relocated store in southern Olathe, KS, officially opened for business on Friday, March 28, 2025.

In addition to the new Grain Valley store, the company will also open a new store in Shawnee, KS in late 2025 or early 2026. Westlake Ace Hardware currently has 31 stores in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.

Grain Valley, MO

A new Westlake Ace store will be built at the intersection of NW Woodbury and S. Buckner Tarsney Rd. in Grain Valley and will feature nearly 15,000 sq. ft. of retail space. Construction will begin in spring 2025, with a planned store opening in early 2026.

Olathe, KS

A recently relocated Westlake Ace store听at听15066 W. 151st St听(northeast corner of 151st听Street & Black Bob)听in Olathe, Kan., officially opened for business on Friday, March 28.听The store moved from nearby听120 N. Clairborne because of pending construction on East Santa Fe Street and its interchange with Interstate 35. All current store associates were transferred to the new听11,500 sq. ft.听location. Rich Crawford, previously the general manager of the Westlake Ace store at 7851 West 151st听Street in Overland Park, Kan., manages the new Olathe location.

In addition to selling lawn and garden supplies, fasteners, tools, plumbing, and electrical supplies, both stores will offer such services as key cutting, screen repair, blade and saw sharpening, Ace Handyman Services referral, automotive key fob replacement, and propane tank exchange. Several specialty departments and store-within-a-store concepts will be featured in the locations, selling such brands as:

  • Stihl, Ego, and Milwaukee outdoor power equipment
  • Benjamin Moore and Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines paints
  • Garden Center featuring annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, tropicals, and shrubs
  • Milwaukee, DeWalt, and Craftsman power tools
  • Weber, Traeger, and Big Green Egg grills and accessories
  • Scotts lawn care products
  • Yeti coolers, drinkware, and accessories
